When asked, “If you were to sell out of your business, who would be most likely to buy it? (Tick the most likely)”, respondents reported that direct competitors or similar businesses would be the most likely buyers. Next after that were staff.

Whilst this is probably correct, it does not bode well for getting the best value during a sale if they can smell blood in the water and only are prepared to pick over the best of your assets, staff and most importantly customers. After all, that is what they are mostly looking to buy.
